Little Bit of Motivation

The Holidays are finally over. No more excuses for just eating one more cookie, or one more piece of pie because I can definitely tell you that I did my fair share of that.
I have been eating a lot better today than I was the week of finals. I have been snacking often and eating better balanced meals. (finally on track again.)
Matt has been a sweetheart and has been holding my feet while I time myself doing situps. I forgot what it feels like to be sore from a workout. (Because I have been majorly slacking off lately, but it is time to get back in the game.)
I did two minutes of sit ups. a minute plank and a minute of pushups. I need to go for a run, but it is miserably cold outside so I am saving it for the gym at school. For now, I will do pushups, situps and other body exercises like that.

I have been working on collages for motivation to hang up in my dorm room and a collage with workouts from pinterest to take to the gym. I am pretty excited about the new semester and what it will bring for me. I am determined to get skinny because spring break is in less than 80 days. If I am going to lay on the beach with my roommate who weighs about 104 lbs. That is my simple motivation.

There is my completed collage of pinterest workouts to take to the gym with me. I am excited to workout hard soon, but since I am currently in Beatrice, I don't have a gym. Cannot wait to get into the gym. For now, it is just push-ups and sit-ups.

I have been snacking every 2-3 hours between meals. I am eating more balanced meals. I am going to get fit for spring break!

Thank you for all of the support.
Keep on reading with how I am doing it. (:

New Year's Resolution

I will be the very first to admit that I hate New Year's Resolutions. By the end of January, people forget their promises they made to themselves and go back to their old ways. People rarely lose the weight that they keep saying they are going to. People buy gym memberships that get used for a few weeks. That's why I don't like them. They never get kept..

But I have goals for this coming year..

1. I am going to the gym at least two days a week. MINIMUM. I am shooting for 3-5. One of my dear military friends said she would go with me. I will schedule it into my days to make sure that I go at the same time every week. That way I have to reason to say that I can't go that day.

2. Eat things that come from the earth more often than things that don't  I will eat more fruits, veggies, meat, dairy, and other natural products more than I eat processed foods such as chips, McDonalds, oils, and other foods that aren't good for you. I will get a blender for the dorms so I can make smoothies for some of my meals instead of eating foods full in carbs, calories, and fats.

3. Write on my blog more. Simple enough. I just want to write more. I want to document my life more so I remember what happens in my life during the year. Often things get forgotten so easily and I want to make sure that I document the "best years of my life." Eventually I want to put my blog posts in order into a photo book of the year to create a yearbook of my years.

4. Give 100% to everything I do. If I cannot give 100%, I need to quit. I often stretch myself too thin and get over stressed and go into breakdown mode where I lay in bed and sleep instead of doing my to do list of things I need. I am a Full Time Student taking 16 credit hours, A National Guard Soldier, a McDonald's Employee, A Teammates Mentor, a Research Assistant, A Girlfriend, A Daughter, A Sister, A Friend. I want to Study Abroad, and Get in Shape. I want to Spend my spring break traveling. I want to do so many things, but I need to limit myself to things that I can give 100% of my effort to when I am there.

5. I want to spend less money. I want to have savings so I can do all of the fun things that I want to do.

6. I want to be creative and being fun. I want to do some of the things that I pin on my pinterest boards.

7. I want to take a picture everyday. Of something. Not necessarily of me, but I want to complete photo challenges every month.

I don't know what this year will bring me, but I want to make the very most of this year. I want to experience life and enjoy the time I have with the people in my life. I hope the very best to everyone as this year progresses.

Life's too Short

Life is really too short to let anything hold you back from doing something crazy. Money is a poor excuse for not doing something you really want to do. And time is an even worse excuse for not doing something you love.

I know that life gets crazy and we seem to get so busy. But the more I think about it the more I realized that I volunteered my open time to drive her is because if no one could come get me so I could come home for the holidays, I would appreciate someone helping me out. Everyone deserves to spend time with their family for the holidays. Now, I understand there are soldiers that are deployed and unable to come home. Their are duties that must be done that don't stop because of Christmas. But the amount of holidays that a child gets to spend with their parents are already too limited the way it is. Every opportunity should be taken advantage of when possible.

I truly don't know what I would do without my parents.

Earlier this week, I got the opportunity to cut the National Guard Birthday cake to represent the young soldiers that make up the guard. I was the youngest Nebraska National Guard member present at the celebration on Tuesday morning at the capital building.

While I was sitting in the chair waiting for the ceremony to start, the Chaplin was sitting next to me, occasionally changing his view and looking around the state capital building. I looked over at him as he leaned over and pointed out the marble pillars and huge concrete blocks that made up the hall that we were in. He pointed out that the building was truly a product of its time. That it was. It was built in the 30s, where everything was made from stone, marble, and other various expensive building materials. It was beautiful.

Later. Someone mentioned how much hope they had for the young generation of military. Which is definitely not heard all too often. My generation is weird. We are somewhat lazy. And fewer and fewer work hard for what they want.

But the speakers at the ceremony pointed out how awesome it was that so many soldiers enlist at 17.

I got to cut the birthday cake with the oldest air guard and army guardsmen present as well as the youngest air guard soldier, who was 18.

After the ceremony, I got to talk to Dave Heineman and Major General Bohac. Two of the commanders for the Nebraska National Guard.

What an amazing experience! I can honestly say that these two men have worked their ass off in order to get to where they want to be. What great role models for military personal. Heineman talked about his experience as a veteran and Major General talked about everything that the military has given to him.

I guess what I am trying to get at was to take some time this holiday season to thank a veteran. If you have the money, find an organization that is sending care packages to the deployed soldiers for the holidays.

They do a lot more than we really give them credit for.

    With Time, Comes Change.

    HOLY COW.

    Life.
    Is.
    Crazy.

Since my last blog, the year has completely taken a 180.
    Relationships end. Relationships begin.
AIT is over. College has begun. (actually.. I am 2 weeks away from being done with my first semester)
    Finals week is coming up.
I am back working at McDonald's in Lincoln. Living in the Dorms.

    Life. Has. Been. Crazy.

Being a college student and living in the dorms, I am not really spending all that much time worrying about ways to save money. I am more focused on making it through the week and living life to the very fullest with the experiences that I can.

I have begun my bucket list (for college) and I am attempting to work on it as much as I can.
One thing on my bucket list is having my dream body and because I plan to go see my roommate, who is moving back to Texas, for spring break. I am working hard to have it as soon as I can. I also want to have a super great PT score by the end of this school year so I can go to Warriors Leadership Course this summer if my unit chooses to send me.

I am changing my blog and hoping to try to write more about being healthy, college life, and military life.
I am in the process of setting up a plan for working out more, eating healthier, and doing all of the stuff that I want to do before graduating college.

In a following post, I will include my bucket list and in another post I will include my fitness plan.
I hope to keep my readers/ get some of them back even with the changes I have decided to make to my post!

    Thanks for Reading as always!
