Off the Desk Paper Organization!

Since I've been at home since the move, I have taken it into my hands to do the house cleaning (for the most part), meal planning, and organizing (again, what I can do.)

I am constantly finding that I don't have a place to put the bills other than under a magnet on the fridge because 1. there are two drawers in our kitchen and they are both taken. and 2. There isn't a whole lot of table and counter space as you walk in the door. (Bonus because our tables don't become a catch all). Anyway, I am always afraid I am going to lose an important piece of paper and not be able to find it when it comes time to pay that bill. Our office desk is less than functional because we have a TV sitting on it to be used as a monitor for my broken laptop.

I decided that I needed some kind of organization process for mail, bills and other things of the sort. I finally got the hammer and nails out to hang up the bulletin board in the office and started to work away. I spent a little bit of time trying to figure out how to print on envelopes and it took a little experimenting, but I finally got it.

These are the templates that I came up with to print onto the envelopes. Then I tucked the flap into the envelope and used push pins to hang them up! Works GREAT!

I threw the date night cash in there as a "money I find around the house/laundry" to go towards date nights. I didn't personally hang it up because our date nights are already in our budget, but there are countless other things that you could put onto an envelope.

Ideas Include:

  • Separate envelopes for paid and unpaid bills
  • Cards from family members as a reminder for Thank you's
  • Blog post ideas (:
  • Pictures
  • Shopping lists
  • To Do Lists
  • Coupons
Anything else that you could possibly think of that would leave paper clutter around the house.

Wanna try it out for yourself? Download the templates. Feel free to play with the clip art and the words. I just used what works for me. Click here to download the templates for yourself!

You could also keep them in a desk drawer or in a basket on the desk without putting up a bulletin board or taking up space on yours!
